At least seven people were killed and more than 40 injured early on April 21, 2025, when a double-decked passenger coach collided with a stationary ten-wheel truck on Highway 304 in Thailand’s Prachin Buri province. The impact caused a fire that quickly engulfed the bus, operated by 407 Pattana Co., Ltd, which was en route from Nong Khai to Rayong.
According to witnesses, the bus was travelling at high speed when it struck the truck, which had stopped on the roadside after an earlier collision. The accident occurred at 2:19 a.m. Rescue teams from the Sawang Bamphen Dhammasathan Foundation responded promptly, extinguishing the fire and assisting the injured.
Among the confirmed fatalities is the coach driver. Many of the passengers sustained serious injuries, including burns and blunt-force trauma, and were transported to Na Di Hospital for emergency treatment.
Authorities are working to identify the deceased and have begun collecting evidence from the scene. The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
Highway 304, a key route linking northeastern and eastern Thailand, has been the site of several fatal road incidents. In February, another double-decked bus crash in Prachin Buri resulted in 20 deaths. Last October, a coach carrying students caught fire in Bangkok, killing 23 people. These repeated tragedies have sparked renewed public calls for stricter safety regulations and improved law enforcement for passenger transport vehicles.
