The notes expressed sympathy for the victims’ loved ones and the hardship this tragedy will cause. The catastrophe was described as a “nightmare” in several sympathy messages sent to the Thai people. Many world leaders and embassies have also shown their support for the Thai people.
Antonio Guterres, the UN secretary-general, expressed his deep sadness at the shooting. He sent his deepest sympathies to the Thai people and the families of the victims. According to a statement sent by the UN secretary-office, general’s Antonio Guterres expresses his best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those who were injured.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) sent its sympathies to the victims’ families and the injured. Since “dozens of individuals were reported murdered, many of them small children,” UNICEF expressed “sadness and horror” at the tragedy. According to the organization, “All types of violence against children are strongly opposed by UNICEF. There should never be a moment or place where a youngster is subjected to or witnesses violence.”
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) expressed sympathy to the victims’ loved ones. The organization tweeted, “Attacks against schools, students, and instructors are attacks on rights to education,” and “No one should be a target.” The government body stressed the need of making all school buildings and classrooms secure environments for their occupants. For its part, UNESCO demanded that no one share any further images of the conflict online or on social media.
