Although COVID-19 is no longer considered a serious communicable illness in Thailand, persons who test positive are nevertheless advised to avoid close contact with others for at least five days.
The most up-to-date guidelines for treating COVID-19 patients have been published. Those patients whose symptoms are minimal or nonexistent will henceforth be treated as outpatients.
COVID-19 was lowered from a hazardous communicable illness to a communicable disease under monitoring, prompting the move. Because of this, restrictions on spreading the disease were eased even farther than they already were.
The Department of Medical Services’ Director General, Dr. Thongchai Keratihuttayakorn, has stated that people who test positive for COVID-19 but show no symptoms should take the standard precautions of staying at least 100 feet away from others, wearing a mask, and washing their hands frequently for the next five days. There will be no antiviral medication given to them.
Patients who only have moderate symptoms will be treated as outpatients, and the doctor will decide whether or not to give antivirals. Two of the medications used to treat symptoms are green chiretta and Favipiravir. In order to treat COVID-19, one of the authorized antivirals might be administered to those with preexisting health conditions.
In the event of a lung infection, Remdesivir will be administered in a hospital setting.
Children who experience sudden sleepiness, loss of appetite, dehydration from diarrhea, or seizures due to high fever should visit a doctor immediately, since these symptoms are more likely to occur in persons with underlying disorders.
Self-antigen testing is not encouraged in the latest recommendations unless concerning symptoms are present. If you start to feel sick, like with a cough or a runny nose, it’s best to stay at home. They should wear two masks if they must go outside, avoid close contact with other individuals, and wash their hands often.
At the same time, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the containment and eventual eradication of COVID-19, which had previously impeded economic activity and travel.
He urged people to be on the lookout and clean up after themselves.
