The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) is currently on a mission to repatriate Thai citizens from Sudan, with the first group of 78 evacuees scheduled to arrive in Thailand tonight at 10 PM via RTAF aircraft.

The RTAF has deployed three of its aircraft, including an Airbus A340-500 and two C-130s, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to retrieve Thai citizens from Sudan. The head of the operation has reported that the first group of 82 Thai citizens has arrived in Jeddah, with 78 returning on the first flight and the remaining four staying with relatives in Saudi Arabia. The RTAF medical team has provided health care and initial screening to all passengers, who are reportedly in good spirits despite fatigue.

The Airbus A340-500 is expected to depart from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah at 2 PM Thailand time and arrive at the 2nd Air Force Base in Don Mueang around 10 PM. Upon arrival, various agencies will handle immigration, health checks, and transportation to their respective hometowns.

The RTAF’s evacuation team and the two C-130s will remain in Jeddah to coordinate with the Thai Embassy in Riyadh until the second group of Thai citizens departs from the Port of Sudan for Jeddah. The plan will be adjusted according to the situation, and further updates will be provided.

The mission to repatriate Thai citizens from Sudan comes amid rising tensions and violence in the country, prompting the Thai government to take action to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens. The RTAF’s efforts to bring its citizens home serve as a testament to the government’s commitment to protecting its people, even in times of crisis.
