Tight control of entertainment venues to receive tourists

Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, referred to the strengthening of restrictions in according to the Thai reopening plan to host and accommodate tourists, that will strictly cover the place of origin and destination.

A special emphasis is placed on the strict supervision of commercial establishments and entertainment venues that have been adjusted and modified as restaurants or shops selling food or beverages, in order to comply with the prevention and control measures of COVID-19.

These measures include the inspection of illegal openings of nightlife or entertainment venues without authorization or the violation of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations B.E. 2548 (2005). The Governor declared that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has now ordered all district offices to act in accordance with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s announcement of the temporary closure order (No. 50).

The order allows the opening of entertainment places providing similar services to: amusement places, pubs, bars, karaoke… These various establishments are prepared to comply with public health measures and have passed the Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration’s SHA PLUS level test or the COVID-19 preventive safety standard called “Thai Stop COVID 2Plus”.

In this regard, the BMA is accelerating vaccination against COVID-19 by providing COVID-19 vaccine boosters to individuals, business operators and employees in pilot tourism and pandemic areas to ensure safety, prevent the spread of the disease and stimulate economic growth.

This includes ensuring the public health safety of tourists and residents of the Bangkok area. Previously, the target groups for the COVID-19 vaccine were health workers, frontline workers and people with chronic diseases. Now, all citizens will be vaccinated.
