On April 10, 2025, a 27-year-old man caused panic at a military conscription unit in Nang Rong District, Buriram Province, after reportedly becoming agitated and shouting during the draft process. Authorities were forced to intervene, and the individual was later taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

A military draft event in Nang Rong District, Buriram Province, was briefly thrown into disorder after a man began yelling uncontrollably and resisting examination procedures. The incident took place on April 10, 2025, the final day of conscription for the district. Local police, along with a rescue team, were dispatched to manage the situation, which unfolded in front of numerous conscripts and their families.

The man, identified only as Mr. Fluke, a resident of Sa Dao Subdistrict, had been waiting to undergo the selection process after completing his previous deferment. Witnesses stated that he appeared to be chewing kratom leaves—a mildly psychoactive plant—shortly before the disturbance began. He reportedly refused to comply with examination protocols and repeatedly shouted, “I want to be a soldier,” prompting alarm among others present.

Responding officers, in cooperation with the Siam Ruam Jai Pu In Rescue Unit, restrained him after a brief struggle and transported him to Nang Rong Hospital for evaluation. Authorities stated that they were awaiting medical assessment results to determine whether the incident was caused by a mental health condition or other factors.

Despite the disruption, conscription proceedings for the remaining individuals continued as scheduled. Eight sub-districts were covered in the draft on the final day: Thanon Hak, Nong Bot, Sadao, Nong Sai, Sap Phraya, Thung Saeng Thong, Chum Saeng, and Hua Thanon.

An elderly observer, Mr. Chantra, who had come to support his own family members, said the man’s behavior frightened many onlookers, particularly due to the fear that he might harm others. However, no injuries were reported.

Officials present included Mr. Banphot Khetram, assistant village headman of Village No. 10, who confirmed that the individual became disruptive during document and physical checks. Authorities stated that further decisions regarding any consequences would depend on the hospital’s evaluation of his mental state.
