A Thai man walking with his dog under the scorching sun after being refused bus service was offered a ride by a compassionate stranger in Phetchabun on April 8, 2025, allowing him to continue his journey home to Udon Thani.
The incident gained widespread attention on Thai social media after a video showed the man, carrying a backpack and holding a Shih Tzu named Nemo, walking along a roadside in intense heat. He had been trying to reach the Lam Narai train station in Lopburi province, over 100 kilometers away, after public buses denied him access because of his pet.
The good Samaritan, Mr. Aphichan, who owns a date palm garden in Phetchabun, spotted the man and dog walking near his property. He offered them water and asked about their situation. The traveler explained he had come to Nong Phai in Phetchabun for a welding job with a friend, but was dismissed after just two weeks and paid only 1,000 baht each.
Unable to bring his dog on public transportation, he sent his belongings ahead with his friend and started walking with Nemo. Touched by the story, Aphichan drove them to Lam Narai station, allowing them to continue home. Online users praised both men for their compassion and loyalty, wishing them well on their journey.
