A tragic collapse at an elevated road construction site on Rama II Road in Thailand has left five workers dead, according to initial reports. The incident occurred at Kilometer 21, where approximately 12 steel segments, including a launcher and bridge components, fell onto the main outbound lanes.

Authorities have closed the primary inbound and outbound lanes of Rama II Road, redirecting traffic to parallel routes and alternate roads. Commuters are advised to follow official updates and use designated detours.

More details are expected to follow as investigations into the cause of the collapse continue. Officials are working to ensure safety and minimize traffic disruptions in the affected area.

For inbound travel to Bangkok, vehicles from southern provinces should use Petchkasem Road. Those traveling from Samut Songkhram or Bang Thorad in Samut Sakhon are advised to use Highway 375 to Nakhon Pathom and continue on Borommaratchachonnani Road. Similarly, vehicles from central Samut Sakhon should take Setthakit Road and Phutthasakorn Road toward Borommaratchachonnani Road.

Outbound traffic from Bangkok is being redirected via Borommaratchachonnani Road to Petchkasem Road or through the Bang Khun Thian coastal route toward Samut Sakhon. Local traffic in parallel lanes remains open, with three inbound and one outbound lane available.

It was reported that local police and highway officials are coordinating traffic management and safety measures. Additional personnel have been dispatched to assist commuters and support the ongoing investigation.
