A tragic accident occurred at noon on October 1, 2024, when a bus carrying students on a field trip caught fire in Pathum Thani Province, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. The bus, en route from Khao Phraya Sangkharam School in Uthai Thani, was transporting 38 students and 6 teachers to visit the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand at Rama 6. The incident happened on Phahonyothin Road near Zeer Rangsit in the Lam Luk Ka District.
Emergency services, including officers from Khok Kut Police Station and the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, responded swiftly to the scene. A fire truck was dispatched to combat the blaze, which had engulfed half of the bus by the time rescuers arrived. Passengers who managed to escape reported that the Shinbut Company bus, a Benz-brand vehicle with a Singburi license plate, had been rented for the field trip. Of the 44 people on board, 19 students and teachers were able to escape the bus before the fire intensified.
After successfully extinguishing the fire, authorities conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle. Sadly, they discovered that 25 people, including 22 students and 3 teachers, were unaccounted for and are believed to have perished in the blaze. Officials are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire and will perform further examinations to confirm the total number of fatalities.
