Nico’s Grill & Craft House, nestled in the bustling heart of Thonglor, is the latest venture from Nico, a restaurateur with an impressive pedigree. Best known for co-founding Berlin’s Doner Kebabs in Bangkok, Nico has once again turned his expertise to satisfying the city’s appetite, this time focusing on a refined take on kebabs and grilled meats.
At Nico’s Grill, the highlight is undoubtedly the BBQ platters from the wood-fired grill, and the XL Grill Platterstands out as a must-try. We sampled a trio of meats—lamb doner, chicken thighs, and Angus beef doner—all slowly cooked on a charcoal rotisserie. Each bite carries the influence of Turkish kofta-style marinades, delivering deep, smoky flavors. The Angus beef, in particular, impressed with its robust, juicy profile, while the lamb offered a rich, savory contrast.

The platter allows for customization with a choice of two sauces from an extensive list of eight. We selected the BBQ, garlic, and hot and spicy sauces, which provided a spectrum of flavors—smoky, tangy, and fiery—that paired well with the meats. The accompaniments of crispy French fries and a couscous salad offered a textural balance. The couscous, dotted with vegetables, was a welcome counterpoint, light and refreshing against the richness of the grilled meats.
For those seeking a lighter bite, the Feta Salad provides a pleasing contrast to the heartier mains. The combination of fresh tomato, cucumber, onion, bell pepper, and red cabbage creates a vibrant base, with the creamy feta lending richness. The seasoning, including a dash of ground pepper, is subtle but effective, elevating the natural flavors of the ingredients without overpowering them.

A standout from the starters menu is the Hummus with olive oil, tomato salsa, and flatbread. The hummus, made with tahini, is smooth and creamy, and the homemade flatbread, baked fresh, adds a rustic touch. A squeeze of lemon gives the dish a refreshing lift, while the tomato salsa and olive oil provide complementary flavors, making for a simple but satisfying appetizer.

One of the restaurant’s signature items is the Doner Beef. Served open-style, it offers a generous view of the fillings—tender slices of beef piled high, with onions, cucumber, lettuce, carrot, and red cabbage. The beef stands out for its portion size and quality, setting it apart from the standard kebab offerings around town. Paired with a side dish and two sauces of your choosing, this dish makes for a hearty and flavorful meal.

The atmosphere at Nico’s Grill & Craft House strikes a balance between cozy and convenient, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed dinner or a casual meet-up with friends. The focus here is clearly on the food, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. Nico’s vision to refine and elevate the kebab experience in Bangkok is well-executed, with the grill platters and homemade touches making this restaurant a strong contender in the city’s competitive dining scene.
While the menu delivers on bold flavors and generous portions, it does so with a restrained, unfussy approach—a nod to Nico’s hotel industry background, where meeting high expectations is second nature.
