Bangkok law enforcement recently detained a 60-year-old man, identified as Prasobchok or Chok Samkok, after he was reported for brandishing a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. The incident, which occurred in a rental room, led to charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition without a permit.

The operation, led by Police Lieutenant General Thiti Saengsawang, the Metropolitan Police Chief, involved senior officers and detectives from the fourth subdivision. The authorities executed the arrest in Prasobchok’s rented accommodation in Phetkasem 26 Alley, Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen Subdistrict, within Bangkok’s Phasi Charoen District. Confiscated items included a Norinco model 213 semi-automatic pistol, various rounds of ammunition, and a knife.

This arrest followed reports to the police of an individual flaunting a weapon and engaging in drug use at the premises. Prasobchok, known for his previous illegal gambling activities and lacking a firearms permit, was quickly identified as the perpetrator. After verifying his address, the police secured a search warrant from the Thonburi Criminal Court, leading to the seizure of the weapons and Prasobchok’s subsequent confession to the offenses.

He was initially processed at Phasi Charoen Police Station as the legal proceedings commenced. This case forms part of a wider crackdown on illegal arms in Bangkok, highlighted by another recent arrest on March 18, where a 39-year-old was apprehended for crafting and selling homemade firearms, an operation that had been active for over three years.
