UTN Leader Announces Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha’s Continuation in Politics, Emphasizing Adherence to Established Norms

In a significant development for Thai politics, the leader of the United Thai Nation Party (UTN), Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, has revealed that General Prayut Chan-o-cha will persist in his political career, all the while adhering to established norms governing the formation of a new government.

UTN, the political party that fielded Gen Prayut as its prime ministerial candidate, has made a solemn commitment to uphold political traditions when transferring power to the next administration. Pirapan, the leader of UTN, firmly asserted that the party would not deviate from the conventional process, which accords the party with the highest number of seats in the House the right to establish the new government.

Underscoring the party’s unwavering dedication to preserving these norms, Pirapan expressed contentment with UTN’s performance since its inception two years ago. When queried about Gen Prayut’s future in politics and his connection to UTN, Pirapan confirmed that Gen Prayut would remain actively involved as the party’s chief strategist.

Meanwhile, Gen Prayut expressed his gratitude to all the voters who had extended their support to him and UTN. He acknowledged his endeavors to work in the best interests of the nation, fostering development and concurrently reaffirming his profound respect for democratic values.

However, Gen Prayut refrained from commenting on the prospects of the Pheu Thai Party assuming power or the potential formation of a minority government resulting from the votes of the 250 senators.
