Anucha Nakasai, the Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, has traveled to the southern province of Songkhla to promote an animal husbandry program in Sathing Phra District. As part of the initiative to strengthen the grassroots economy for sustainable national development, Minister Anucha presided over the opening ceremony.
The program aims to ensure sustainable and strong development of villages and urban communities, with a focus on improving the quality of life for all citizens, starting with grassroots populations such as farmers and livestock groups. The Thai government hopes to secure a stable economy by supporting community-driven projects that generate income for local communities.
While the industrial sector has contributed to Thailand’s overall GDP growth, the government recognizes the importance of empowering local communities. The National Village and Urban Community Fund plays a crucial role in supporting such initiatives.
Thailand’s geography is well-suited for agriculture and livestock farming, providing ample opportunities for Village Fund members to receive loans for raising cattle, buffalo, goats, and sheep. The program has a family limit of 50,000 baht, and it is expected that the investment will be returned within three years, with profits generated from the fourth year onwards.
The opening ceremony in Sathing Phra marks the fourth event of its kind, targeting Village Fund members from seven provinces, including Songkhla, Satun, Trang, Phatthalung, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. The next event is scheduled for Friday, April 28th, in Ratchaburi Province. Through these initiatives, the Thai government aims to support local communities and promote sustainable economic development.
