The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has started the “Choose Your Nutritious School Meals” initiative, which allows students to vote on their breakfast and lunch menus.
The initiative was inaugurated at Surao Siro School (Rat Samakkhi) in Saphan Sung district, in collaboration with school food ingredients supplier Be Genius, with Deputy Bangkok Governor Sanon Wangsrangboon officiating.
The initiative aims to teach youngsters about the political process by enabling them to vote for meals, similar to how they will vote in the next general election. The pupils voted on 12 breakfast dishes and 15 lunch menus, and the choices with the most votes will be served beginning March 21.
Organizers also said that all dishes provided at the event adhere to Thai School Lunch for BMA nutrition and amount criteria depending on age group.
The Bangkok Deputy Governor expressed optimism that the campaign will serve as an example for other schools in the metropolitan region, emphasizing that the campaign is about satisfying quality and nutritional criteria, not merely picking the lowest bidder as a food provider.
