A police official reported that 13 people were killed and 35 were injured when a fire broke out at a nightclub in Thailand’s Chonburi province, southeast of the capital Bangkok, on Friday.
According to Police Colonel Wuttipong Somjai, the fire at the Mountain B nightclub in the Sattahip area erupted at 1:00 a.m., and all of the victims thus far have been Thai nationals.
The accident occurred on a single-story structure with a land area of more than 3 rai. The fire was discovered to be raging inside the structure. Patrons of the club fled the premises, many in groups of ten, some with severe burns all over their bodies. Rescue crews needed to administer immediate first assistance. The patients was then transferred to Queen Sirikit Hospital in Sattahip.
It was difficult keeping the fire under control b ecause the structure contains combustible materials, particularly the sound-absorbing foam. The fire quickly spread throughout the structure with f irefighters requiring the use of water for more than two hours before the fire was finally put out.
The authorities, however, were unable to ascertain the source of the fire. Witnesses provided early evidence that, prior to the flames, Two explosions were heard near the DJ booth stage. before the sparks become entangled in the sound-absorbing foam slate until it spread rapidly throughout the building.
