The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives opens an information office on cannabis

Mr. Mananya Thaiset deputy minister of agriculture presided the opening ceremony, he said that this new department supports the medical research of the Ministry of Agriculture on cannabis.

The deputy minister said the government is ensuring the quality of crops formerly classified as narcotics so that they meet the increasing public demand. The DoA is specifically responsible for controlling the legal use of cannabis, as well as import and export requirements.
The DoA has also signed a protocol agreement with the Ministry of Public Health regarding the use of cannabis for medical and research purposes, which is helpful in promoting domestic cannabis.

Mr. Raphabhat Chandarasrivongs, director general of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the new department was in line with the deputy minister of agriculture’s policy to provide information on cannabis plants. The director general added that questions can be addressed to the center through a dedicated phone line reachable via the number 1174.
