The Rice Trader, a U.S.-based magazine, will be holding an award ceremony for the World’s Best Rice Award in Thailand on November 15. The event is expected to boost the country’s international popularity of rice.
According to Jeremy Zwinger, the magazine’s CEO, the event will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Bangkok. It will be the 13th year that the magazine has held an award ceremony for the best rice. The event, which will feature a total of 1,000 participants, is expected to be the biggest gathering of magazine publishers in the world.
The event is expected to help boost the country’s international rice consumption and stabilize the national prices. It will also promote tourism activities in various areas, such as Phang Nga and Phuket. According to the Ministry of Commerce, the country is expected to export around 8 million tons of rice this year. During the first four months of 2022, the country exported over 2.29 million tons of rice, which is a 52.67% increase from the same period last year. Major markets for Thailand’s rice include Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
