Soft drink giant “Pepsi Cola” announced a price increase of 1-2 baht per bottle/can; the new price will take effect from June 1, while the current price and all discounts will remain unchanged until the end of the month.
On May 29, 2022, the journalist reported that a source from Suntory PepsiCo Thailand Beverage Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of soft drinks, revealed that due to the increase in packaging costs, plastic bottles and aluminium cans led the company to consider raising product prices. The retail price of “Pepsi Cola” in various sizes and packages will increase by 1-2 baht.
For small-sized items, the price will increase by 1 baht per bottle/can; for products above 20 baht, the price will increase by 2 baht per bottle, and the wholesale price will increase by about 20-24 baht per pack.
While the company notified the new price increase starting June 1, the distributor will be running a campaign offering discounts to its brands. Therefore, there will be the same as the current price in June so that the retail price will remain unchanged for another month, and the price will not be officially adjusted until July 1, 2022.
The source said the company acknowledged that higher prices could lead to lower sales, but they believed it would only be a short-term reaction. In addition, the government has begun to ease measures for pubs and bars, which will help boost sales of Pepsi.
The company only raised the price of “Pepsi Cola”, which accounted for the highest sales volume. As for other beverages, there are not many sales, so the cost is borne by the company.
