Pattaya City maintains the opening of Koh Lan to tourists and strengthens disease prevention measures.

Chonburi province has imposed additional measures to prevent and reduce the spread of COVID-19 among tourists visiting Koh Lan, as the eastern provinces continue to report the highest number of new cases in Thailand.

The Mayor of Pattaya, Sontaya Kunplome, disclosed that the Koh Lan community and Pattaya city administrators have decided not to ban tourists from the island of Lan, but to implement additional disease control measures. Travelers to Koh Lan who are considered to be at risk for Covid-19 will be quarantined for additional testing and treatment. This measure also applies to people with high-risk exposure to these individuals. Mr. Sontaya Kunplome said Pattaya City is maintaining Koh Lan open so that tourism-related businesses can continue to run.

In Chonburi province is the district of Sriracha, and it was Sriracha City Deputy Mayor Korawan Temiyason, who revealed that the city’s three schools are ready to resume classes there on Tuesday (January 18th). Students will be tested by the ATK method before classes resume on Monday (January 17th), with weekly tests. She also said that school personnel must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and ATK tested before classes resume on site.

Lately, Chonburi has consistently been the province with the highest number of new coronavirus cases in Thailand. 825 new infections were recorded on Friday (January 14th ), and 8,293 patients are currently in isolation or under treatment.
