109 junior high and high schools under the jurisdiction of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) have commenced with their new school term, after at least 80% of their student bodies have been vaccinated for COVID-19 and two weeks behind schools in most other provinces.

At Kingpetch School in Ratchathewi district of Bangkok, 138 students were able to resume on-site learning today (Nov 15) after months of online learning from home. All students and staff who came to the school today had to be tested for COVID-19 using ATK test kits – a process that will be repeated twice per week. Meanwhile, spaces in the canteen and in classes were organized with regard to social distancing. Similarly, students were given adequate distances from one another when they form queues and when they line up for the morning anthem assembly. Efforts were made to reduce physical contact between students as much as possible, and everybody was made to observe the face mask requirement.

Deputy Bangkok Governor Pol. Gen. Chinnathat Meesuk said after inspecting the school that the BMA will make sure that vaccines are provided to all students. He explained that each school will need to make evaluation reports during the school term and send them to the BMA so the latter could use the information to optimize disease control measures. The BMA will also use the information when considering future school term commencements for elementary and kindergarten schools in the capital city.
