To achieve a low-carbon society and to make the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week Media Center carbon neutral, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and capital market partners Bangchak Group, SCG, and PTT Oil and Retail Business pcl (OR) promote the “Care the Bear” project. The stock exchange’s dominance is bolstered by the SET’s balanced and steady growth. Under the global warming effort, SET will implement its six care practices at the “Green Media Center,” a model for environmental management, efficient resource and energy consumption, and integrated and tangible waste management.
The media center will be made carbon neutral with the help of partners who will utilize their expertise to provide full-service management. At the media center, Bangchak Group will determine its carbon footprint and then seek compensation from the Carbon Markets Club. Event backdrops, recycling bin linings, and bookcase linings are all made using recycled paper purchased from SCG. Ideas from the circular economy can be used here. To showcase APEC’s BCG economy, OR will upcycle plastic waste into new materials.
There will be about 3,000 members of foreign media present at the Green Media Center on the LG Floor of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) from November 14-19, 2022, for APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director-General of the Department of Information Tanee Sangrat has stated that Thailand’s goal in hosting APEC 2022 is to encourage sustainable and balanced growth through socially and environmentally responsible business operations that support the Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model (BCG). As a result, the “Green Media Center” will showcase potential strategies for promoting environmental sustainability in Thailand. Materials used in booths and displays are recyclable, and there are plans for integrated waste management and greenhouse gas emission tracking to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is an official communication partner of APEC 2022, and at that time it will host an exhibition to highlight the capital market’s potential and role in balanced and sustainable growth in Thailand. Care the Bear is a project of the Climate Care Collaboration Platform in which SET is involved alongside the Department of Information and others. For this purpose, LG has created the “Green Media Center,” a 22,000-square-meter exhibition space.
Public transportation or carpooling, less paper and plastic, less foam, energy efficiency, recyclable decorative materials, and less food waste are just some of the six Cares practices that SET encourages exhibitors and event visitors to understand and embrace. The media center’s greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and environmental impact are all diminished by employing these strategies. Emissions savings from the event will be calculated by the six Cares practices.
SET has created a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration on climate care. To demonstrate Thailand’s tangible and quantifiable steps in sustainable environmental management, we will be collaborating with the Department of Information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement the “Care the Bear” Project during APEC 2022. To get to a low-carbon world, this paradigm will lead to new environmental management norms for businesses.
