Prachuap Officials Inspect Flood Management Projects and Hua Hin Royal Golf Course Development
On 6 October 2025, the Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province and the Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) conducted a site visit to assess progress on drainage and flood prevention projects along the railway in Hua Hin. The inspections focused on improving water management to address recurring flooding and ensuring efficient use of community resources.
The morning visit included a tour of dredging works along the railway canal in Moo 1, Hua Hin District, as well as the area beneath a nearby railway bridge close to the provincial sports stadium. Officials discussed strategies for managing water resources with representatives from the Provincial Waterworks Authority, exploring ways to mitigate both flooding and water shortages for local communities.
In the afternoon, the delegation traveled to the Hua Hin Royal Railway Golf Course to review ongoing development initiatives and assess the site’s potential. The meeting included local government officials, municipal leaders, and private-sector representatives. Discussions centered on sustainable improvements and how the site could contribute to tourism and community activities.
According to the governor, the visit addressed four main priorities for the province: tourism, flood and drought management, municipal infrastructure development, and the safety and maintenance of local railway overpasses. The SRT has introduced the special KIHA 183 train service to Hua Hin to improve tourist access and plans to host promotional events leading up to the New Year festival. Flood prevention efforts include dredging canals along the railway, constructing small retention ponds for surrounding communities, and maintaining railway bridges to ensure public safety.
The Governor of the State Railway of Thailand noted that the inspections aimed to identify practical solutions starting with pilot projects along underutilized railway land, which can be converted into community water reservoirs for agriculture while controlling floods. Expansion plans will follow if the model proves effective. Officials also reviewed key points for canal widening and bridge repairs, with coordination between provincial authorities and the railway expected to continue in the coming weeks. Residents can report related issues through the SRT hotline at 1690, available 24 hours a day.
