American Man, 70, Dies After Fall from Jomtien Condominium

A 70-year-old American man was found dead early on October 12, 2025, after falling from a condominium building in Jomtien, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. Police were called to the scene at around 2:16 a.m., where they discovered the man’s body in the parking area of the residential complex.

Officers from Mueang Pattaya Police Station, led by Police Lieutenant Chaiyanaret Phengkan, arrived with a team of investigators and volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation. The area was cordoned off to prevent public access while authorities conducted their examination and collected evidence.

The deceased, dressed in a plaid shirt and three-quarter trousers, had suffered multiple fractures. Investigators said he had been living alone on the fifth floor of the condominium. Police found no signs of a struggle or forced entry in his apartment but did discover a handwritten note reading, “I am leaving because I have run out of funds.” The note was taken as evidence, according to The Pattaya News.

CCTV footage reviewed by police showed the man entering an elevator to the 11th floor at 12:35 a.m., carrying several personal items. Cameras in the corridor later captured his presence on that floor shortly before the fall.

A condominium employee on duty at the time told officers she had heard a loud noise resembling a heavy object hitting the ground but initially assumed it was debris falling from an upper floor. It was only after a foreign guest alerted the staff upon seeing a body in the parking area that police were contacted.

Authorities suspect financial hardship may have contributed to the man’s apparent decision to take his own life. His body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

In a similar incident earlier this year, a 64-year-old American dental professor reportedly fell to his death from a condominium in Bangkok’s Pathum Wan district, with police citing personal problems as a possible factor, according to Bangkok Post.

Police said the U.S. Embassy in Thailand will be notified to assist in contacting the man’s relatives.
