Pattaya police are investigating two attempted armed robberies that occurred on the evening of 20 April 2025 in the Pratumnak area, where a man impersonating a motorcycle taxi driver targeted pedestrians, including a Thai woman and a Russian tourist with her young child.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., Pattaya City Police responded to an emergency call reporting an attempted robbery in Soi Pratumnak 5, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Sub-Lieutenant Panasorn Khrongsit led the initial response alongside officers from the local investigation team and Tourist Police.

The first reported incident involved a 21-year-old Thai woman, identified only as Ms. B, who was approached by a man wearing an orange motorcycle taxi vest. He offered her a ride, which she declined. After she began walking, the suspect followed her, blocked her path, and silently displayed a firearm. The woman managed to escape into a nearby hotel and call for help, prompting the man to flee.

Shortly thereafter, a second incident occurred near Soi Pratumnak 6. A Russian tourist walking with her friend and three-year-old daughter was approached by the same suspect, who was seen circling the area on a motorcycle before confronting them in a poorly lit section of the road. According to witness accounts, he brandished a gun and demanded money. The tourist complied, handing over 3,100 baht in cash before the man fled the scene.

Law enforcement agencies have begun reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to gather more information. Initial findings suggest that police have identified both the suspect and the motorcycle used.

Authorities remain optimistic about making an arrest soon. The investigation is ongoing, with support from various units, including the Tourist Police.
