The Thai Cabinet has approved a temporary exemption of certification fees to ease financial burdens on businesses and certification bodies. The measure, proposed by the Ministry of Industry, will take effect the day after its publication in the Royal Gazette and remain in place until June 30, 2025.

Under the regulation, businesses will be exempt from the 1,000-baht application fee and 10,000-baht certification issuance fee for standards such as ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and ISO 14000 (Environmental Management System). The government expects this initiative to increase certification participation while maintaining compliance with international standards.

Despite an estimated 2.64 million baht in revenue loss, the Ministry of Industry believes the policy will ultimately support businesses by lowering operational costs and encouraging greater standardization. The decision aligns with the State Fiscal and Financial Discipline Act, B.E. 2561 (2018) and was deemed appropriate given the absence of mandatory certification requirements under the National Standardization Act.

Authorities have also confirmed that no certification renewal applications have been recorded under Section 28 of the law for 2025, reinforcing the rationale behind waiving these specific fees.
