Bangkok: To meet the surge in holiday travel demand, six airlines will operate an additional 247 flights between December 26, 2024, and January 5, 2025, Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit announced. The increase, designed to accommodate the New Year festival, will provide 73,388 additional seats.
The airlines involved include Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, and Thai Vietjet Air. Larger aircraft will also be deployed to ensure adequate capacity for the season. Advance booking is encouraged to secure affordable tickets, which have been made available since November 14.
This initiative aims to alleviate the persistent issue of high airfares during peak travel periods. Minister Suriya emphasized the importance of planning to manage the expected high volume of passengers effectively. Travelers are advised to leave extra time to reach airports, as increased traffic congestion is anticipated during the holiday period.
