A leopard was sighted in Kaeng Krachan National Park, Kaeng Krachan district, drawing attention to the area’s thriving wildlife. The animal, seen in broad daylight, was photographed lounging on a park road by a passing tourist on 15 October, according to park officials.
Mongkol Chaipakdee, head of Kaeng Krachan National Park, confirmed the sighting on 16 October, explaining that leopards have been spotted more frequently in recent months. He attributed the increased visibility of the elusive predator to the park’s healthy ecosystem, which provides an ample food supply.
“This sighting highlights the richness of the environment within the park, which serves as a crucial habitat for many rare species,” Mongkol noted. Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand’s largest protected forest area, is home to various wildlife, including elephants, gibbons, and now an increasing number of leopard sightings.
The park, a popular destination for ecotourism, encourages visitors to remain cautious and respectful of wildlife, reminding them to maintain a safe distance if they encounter any animals.
