Election Commission Meets with 23 Agencies to Prepare for Thai General Elections

The Election Commission (EC) of Thailand recently organized a conference with officials from 23 different government organizations in order to conduct mock elections and get ready for the next general elections. Ittiporn Boonpracong, the Chairman of the EC, presided over the meeting and coordinated with representatives from a variety of government bodies. These government bodies included the Royal Thai Armed Forces, the Royal Thai Police, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand Post, Thai Airways, and Airports of Thailand.

The meeting’s purpose was to prepare for the forthcoming general election, which is set to take place on May 14. The procedure of candidate registration for members of parliament (MP) constituency races will be open from the 3rd to the 7th of April, while the process of candidate registration for party-list races will be open from the 4th to the 7th of April. In addition, the EC is preparing preparations for early voting, which will take place both inside and outside of the nation. Furthermore, it will investigate and rule on election complaints, as well as maintain security and encourage public involvement.

Chairman Ittiporn has expressed full confidence in the Electoral Commission’s (EC) and affiliated agencies’ readiness for the upcoming election. He went on to say that the commission is dedicated to ensuring that the election process is both fair and transparent, and that it adheres to the democratic norms that the nation has established.
