This year, Thai exports are expected to exceed expectations, thanks to the efforts of the government. Just recently, Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce requested that a Lax-C wholesale-retail outlet in the United States acquire more Thai goods.

Anek Bholsangngam, an executive with food wholesaler and retailer Lax-C, met with Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit and his group. Importers from the US have complained about issues including the strict quality controls imposed by the FDA, which were a topic of conversation between the two sides.

If you are looking for Thai goods in the Western United States, go no farther than Lax-C. Locals refer to it as the “Thai Costco” because of the large amount of money (400-500 million baht) it spends annually importing goods from Thailand. The shop serves Asian customers in the United States and is located in Los Angeles’ Chinatown.

Mr. Jurin suggested that importers get in touch with the Thai Commerce Attaché in Los Angeles for more information. The latter is prepared to coordinate with governmental entities in the United States to make it easier for importers to bring Thai items into the country.

Thailand’s second-largest export market is the United States. There were 1.2 trillion baht worth of Thai exports to the United States in the first nine months of this year. A growth of 30.34 percent from the same time the year before may be seen here. Computers, computer components, computer accessories, rubber goods, telecoms gear, precious stones, and electrical appliances are among the country’s most valuable exports. The Commerce Ministry forecasts a 15% increase in Thai food exports to the United States in 2019.
