In an effort to encourage people to use less energy, the Energy Ministry has expanded the number of product categories with energy labels. For example, EV chargers and school uniforms both received the No.5 mark for low energy usage.

Energy Label Campaign Coordination Agreement Signed by Kulit Sombatsiri, Governor Boonyanit Wongrukmit of the Energy Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and Delegates from Partner Agencies to Facilitate Cooperation with Private Firms for Energy Efficiency Certification.

The No.5 label was originally awarded by Thailand’s energy efficiency label program to electrical equipment including air conditioners and refrigerators that met EGAT’s energy consumption standards.

The No.5 designation for student uniforms that require less ironing was unveiled today at a signing event hosted by the Ministry of Energy and the EGAT.

Together with the Thailand Textile Institute, EGAT has been working on a new standard for wrinkle-free, lightweight, and energy-efficient clothing.

Two new kinds of electric motorcycle chargers, motorcycle batteries, and split-type air conditioning systems, all bearing the No.5 name, are scheduled for release in April of 2019. In order to help Thailand reach its objective of being carbon neutral, EGAT is pushing for more participation in the country’s energy label program among producers and retailers.
