On June 9, Mr. Kittipong Kittikachorn, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) revealed that according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) 19 (CDC) has relaxed entry requirements for travelers from abroad. Since June 1, the number of passengers passing through the police station is an average of 70,000 people per day, divided into 42,000 international passengers, 28,000 domestic passengers for the overall average daily flights. 460 flights each, divided into 240 international flights and 220 domestic flights.
Mr. Kittipong said that in order to provide passengers with a seamless service, the police station has prepared the facilities, including staff, to be ready to support and match the increased volume of air traffic to provide the most efficient service. For departing passengers, the police station has activated check-in counters to support airline services at all counters, 318 counters in total, with Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) machines. There are 196 machines and 42 Common Use Self-Drop (CUBD) machines, which can adequately support the airline’s check-in service. Up to 3 hours before the flight departure, for cases where many passengers check in at peak hours, the police station also has assistance staff to facilitate and organize the passenger check-in lines. In addition, the police station has also increased staffing at the passenger body and baggage checkpoints. Traffic officers in front of the 4th floor departure hall platform to address congestion during busy periods and security personnel to inspect the area and monitor suspicious items, including 24-hour CCTV cameras.
Mr. Kittipong also said that the Royal Thai Police, as the country’s main airport, has integrated with government agencies, airlines and operators to be ready to serve travelers from around the world to be convenient and fast. The police station is ready to support the work of all departments to create confidence and security. The police station will act as a gateway to Thailand.
