Integration of six Andaman national parks in the Unesco World Heritage Centre’s Tentative List

On December 18 last year, according to the Director of the Foreign Affairs Division of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants, Sunee Saksuea, Thailand submitted to UNESCO six national parks in the Andaman Sea. This registration was in order to make them part of the world heritage of humanity. The six parks have now been registered on the tentative list of UNESCO!

The Andaman Sea Nature Reserves, which include six national parks, have been included in the tentative list, said Sunee. The Ministry and relevant agencies will follow the directives of the World Heritage Centre and register the Andaman Sea Nature Reserves in Thailand as World Heritage.

Thailand’s Andaman Sea Nature Reserves are situated in the provinces of Ranong, Phang Nga and Phuket and cover the national parks of Mu Ko Ranong, Laem Son, Mu Ko Surin, Mu Ko Similan, Khao Lampi-Hat Thai Mueang and Sirinat.
