Ministry of Education has announced the guidelines in regards to a pathway towards reopening schools.  It necessitates 85% of teachers must be fully vaccinated, no more than 25 students in one classroom and they must remain at least 1.5 metres apart.

It’s part of a 2 phase plan that the Ministry of Education recently announced.  Phase 1 involves boarding school that have been COVID19 safety complaint since August.  Pass 2 opens the door for schools that pass a formal COVID 19 assessment, thereby allowing them to open.

Supat Champathong, permanent Secretary of the Education Ministry, announced that these guidelines would apply to the new school semester, starting this November.  The ministry has encouraged students and parents to get inoculated in preparation for the new school semester.

Additionally, plans are afoot for the mass vaccination of students between the ages of 12 and 18 which will start next Monday. The second dose will be administered three weeks later.  Students will receive their second dose 3 weeks after that.  Since Thai schools have been closed nationwide since the first semester of the 2021 academic year due to Covid online teaching has prevailed.  However, low income families have been at a disadvantage as they cannot necessarily afford the computers, laptops, smartphones or stable internet connections needed to sustain online education.
